CITY (PLACE) #4

UNCLE E’S IN BLOOMINGTON, IN

Well, this week we were supposed to go visit a friend in Chicago. However, mother nature dropped the bomb on that one with ICEPOCOLIPSE/SNOWMAGGEDON. So we needed to find somewhere interesting enough to go and thought, hey, the gay bar is a world of it’s own. Lucky for us, it was karaoke night. Ow ow! This was the first time we did karaoke, at a gay bar none-the-less and we’d say it was fairly successful. We decided to sing (or yell as you can see in the video) Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen. It’s an all time favorite of ours, so we had to go with it. We probably won’t be going back to the gay bar soon because, as ladies, it’s difficult to get someone to buy your drinks.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE NIGHT:

1. Bartender sang Maybe This Time and fucking killed it.

2. Politics talk on the back deck.

3. Roller derby talk with lady in the bathroom. (Check out the Heartland Roller Girls)

4. Seeing Chlz’s boss singing Bills, Bills, Bills as we walked in.

5. Singing Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen (Sorry the video is dark and shaky and overall, not great quality. Biz’s drunk roommate, Chip was in charge of the camera.)

We’re pretty excited that we just ordered our business cards. Keep an eye out for sneek peekz.

‘Til next time, happy trails.

This is our Thursday Night Stand Project. We are starting out traveling to cities close by that we’ve been to before, but eventually we’ll travel further, get wilder, and naturally, have more exciting tales to tell. We hope this blog inspires you to go on your own adventures.

CITY #3: Muncie, IN

After a super delayed, 4 hour drive from Bloomington to Muncie, we pulled up to Brad’s house (lead singer of Bradley Thomas & Friends) and met up with everyone before the show. Then we piled into Metal Bryan’s car and arrived at Doc’s Music Hall. To start the night off, we threw back a couple Vodka and Cranberry drinks and Washington Apple shooters (YUM). At first, Biz was not convinced of the legitimacy of this show, but after reconsideration and a couple more drinks she was soon persuaded otherwise. The people who were at the show were hard workers and college kids lookin’ to just have a good time. Just drinkin’, dancin’ and playin’ pool. After the show, we went back to Brad’s house to chill the fuck out.

Now to the nitty-gritty, the highlights of the night:

1. Some dude cleared the fucking dance floor to rave with these fancy glow sticks on rope. (Seasoned ravers will know what we’re talking about.)

2. We were recognized by our new friend Grady. First fan introduction? Yep. He could probably hear us being too excited and giggly as he walked away.

3. Band #3 played “Twist and Shout” by The Beatles and after that, that’s all we wanted to hear. Yellin’, shoutin’, hootin’ and hollerin’ didn’t convince them to play it again. Bitches.

4. Lingonberry Crepes from IHOP. Yeah. We know.

5. Biz almost fell a ridiculous amount of times.

6. Chlz asked Biz if we were “BFF status.”

7. We were.

Thanks for a good night Muncie! And thanks to Brad & crew for being awesome and letting us crash on your couches!

'Till next time, happy trails.

CITY (PLACE) #2: Cascades Park

Since the snow barricaded us into Bloomington, we went to the awesome park that has an adult sized play ground. BEST IDEA EVER. Yes, we were freezing, but that didn’t stop us. On the way we came upon the club house, which is actually a Buddhist Monastery. Huh. Who knew? When we pulled in there was only one car there. The guy in the car seemed to be taking notes or writing poetry, so we continued, happy to have the park to ourselves.

We basically just screwed around and climbed everything we could. Chlz was talking to our friend Alex about the slides and said, “I bet Biz would go down one.” And she did. Twice. The best way to put flying down a big orange slide in the cold is, “Don’t expect a clean landing.” Biz had no control over her body.

This second week has been kind of a bust, due to the weather. But fear not, little darlings. We’re going to Muncie next week and if all goes well Chicago the week after that! As always, thanks for following.

'Till next time, happy trails.

Let us introduce ourselves. We are Biz Strother and Chlz English from Bloomington, IN. We are students, we are friends, we are woman. One fine Thursday night we discovered that neither of us had obligations the next day and it hit us: “Let’s travel to a different city every Thursday night and blog about our adventures.” We are starting out with cities close by that we’ve been to before, but eventually we’ll travel further, get wilder, and naturally, have more exciting tales to tell. We hope this blog inspires you to go on your own adventures.

CITY #1: BLOOMINGTON, IN

First, we got apple juice, which we mixed with our Goldschläger in the bathroom of the convenient store. Once our potion was complete, we set off to The Bishop to see The Homecomings, Brother John, and Lia Ices. We arrived there 15 minutes after the start time only to find few people and many flannel shirts. Finally the show started. We were most impressed with Brother John (however we didn’t stay for Lia Ices). The fact that they had 14 people committed enough to show up to play was one thing, but the fact that they sounded like a professional (miniature) orchestra was what really got us.

We left the show early to go to our friend Hailey’s roommates birthday party. Beer pong, hookah, shitty vodka, and hip-hop. The ushe. Seeing friends we hadn’t seen over break was definitely a highlight of the night. Unfortunately, neither of us were on party mode, so we stayed sober and went home early. We still got some great pictures though.

For our next adventure, hopefully we’ll be going to Chicago. If not, you’ll surely hear about it. In the mean time, feel free to email us with advice, city suggestions (show us around your city! (midwest plz)), stories, or whatever your little heart desires. Be on the lookout for sneek peekz and contests!

'Til next time, happy trials.
